iRobot launches Roomba Max 775 Combo: the self-cleaning robot that does almost everything
The robotic vacuum sector had gone long without real surprises. But iRobot has just broken that stagnation with the Roomba Max 775 Combo with AutoWash Base, a device that promises something most users of these appliances still dream of: almost completely autonomous cleaning, requiring no manual intervention beyond programming and forgetting about it.
Brutal suction power and hot water mopping
The standout figure in the technical specifications is 30,000 Pa of suction power, a pressure that, according to xataka.com, ensures deep extraction of dirt and pet hair on both hard floors and carpets. The robot features two anti-tangle rubber brushes specifically designed to prevent the typical jams these devices suffer.
But the real innovation is not just suction: it is scrubbing. The Roomba Max 775 Combo includes mopping with hot water at 75 ºC, applied at 200 revolutions per minute with constant pressure. It is not simply about dampening the floor, but actively scrubbing to break down stubborn dirt, something that greatly changes final effectiveness in kitchens and bathrooms.
iRobot has also incorporated PowerSpin PerfectEdge technology, which allows the mopping roller to properly access corners and edges, historically one of the weak points of these robots. Additionally, the device detects when it passes over a carpet and automatically raises the roller to avoid wetting it while maintaining suction at maximum power.
The station that truly takes the work off your hands
Where the qualitative leap lies is in the AutoWash Base. It is not merely a charging dock: it is a complete maintenance system that makes the robot something close to truly autonomous. When it finishes the task, the device returns to the base, which automatically empties the solid waste container into hermetically sealed bags—with odour control for up to three months—and then tackles the heaviest part of the mopping.
The base washes the roller with hot water at 75 ºC and dries it with hot air at 50 ºC, preventing moisture and odours. It even manages intelligent dosing of cleaning liquid through the StayClean automatic mixing system. In practice, this means you could forget about touching anything for weeks.
Intelligent navigation to avoid the unexpected
To move around the house without crashing into everything, iRobot has integrated LiDAR sensors capable of generating precise three-dimensional maps of multi-storey homes. This is complemented by a front-facing camera with Artificial Intelligence (PrecisionVision) trained to recognise and actively avoid everyday small obstacles: cables, shoes, or even surprises left by pets.
Price and availability
The Roomba Max 775 Combo arrives in Spain at a price of approximately 900 euros. It is a substantial investment, but it is aimed at households with pets, where hair and dust are constant, or at users who simply value the time they save by not cleaning manually.
If your idea of a robotic vacuum is an economical option for occasional basic cleaning, this is not your device. But if what you are looking for is to get as close as possible to cleaning without doing almost anything, iRobot has just brought to market the sector's most ambitious bet in years.
