Bugatti, the French hypercar brand, has decided to take its obsession with extreme engineering beyond the asphalt. This time the challenge is not reaching 400 kilometres per hour, but achieving something that would seem impossible: playing pool on the deck of a luxury yacht without the waves ruining the game. The result is a stabilised pool table priced at €250,000 that defies the laws of marine physics.

The problem nobody knew how to solve

Super-yacht owners wanted to enjoy a pool table on board, but the constant rocking of the vessel made it virtually impossible to play. The balls rolled on their own to the rhythm of the waves, turning any game into an exercise in frustration. Bugatti saw in this a perfect opportunity to apply its philosophy of luxury and technical precision to a new territory. Thus was born Bugatti Pool Table, part of Bugatti Lifestyle, the brand's division dedicated to luxury objects that has already launched high-performance watches and televisions.

A gyroscopic system in five milliseconds

The heart of the invention is a gyroscopic stabilisation system that works almost silently. As reported by xataka.com, sensors detect any inclination of the boat and order correction in just five milliseconds. Servomotors adjust the position of each table leg to keep the surface completely horizontal, without perceptible vibrations.

The technology is similar to that used by professional boat stabilisers, but applied at the scale of a pool table. The result is that the balls remain exactly where you leave them, regardless of how the hull moves beneath your feet.

Designed in Vigo, with competition-grade materials

Although it bears Bugatti's stamp, the project has been developed in Galicia. The company responsible is IXO, a Vigo-based firm specialising in carbon fibre that also works for the aerospace industry and has repaired bodywork for Ferrari and Lamborghini. Its founder, Pedro Sánchez, highlights that "we have spared no expense; everything has been risked and sacrificed to create something unimaginable".

The construction combines carbon fibre with CNC-machined aluminium. The screws and bolts are made of titanium to resist marine corrosion. The pockets are lined in leather and stainless steel. Furthermore, it meets the specifications of a table homologated for professional competition. Each unit carries a numbered plate, just like Bugatti supercars, which guarantees that no two tables are alike.

The accessories package that exceeds the price of a car

The table does not arrive alone. The package includes:

• A carbon fibre cue rack with 13-inch touchscreen for the scoreboard
• An adjustable LED lamp
• A leather case for the balls
• Aramith Tournament Pro balls, the standard of world professional tournaments

Bugatti has limited production to just 30 units, with prices starting at €250,000 with all accessories included. For context: that figure exceeds the price of a conventional high-end car, but is a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of a luxury yacht where this table would fit.

The question now is obvious: if Bugatti can ensure that pool balls do not move at sea, what other impossibilities will it decide to conquer next year?
