A cradle of luxury and bullfighting

Carmina was born on 2 May 1955 in an environment that combined two seemingly incompatible worlds: bullfighting tradition and cultural cosmopolitanism. Her father, Antonio Ordóñez, was a famous matador who maintained a friendship with Orson Welles, whom he would accompany to bullfights. The filmmaker was so close to the family that he earned the family nickname "Uncle Orson" and would even pick up little Carmuca—as her father called her—from school.

This inheritance of bullfighters was significant: her grandfather was Cayetano Ordóñez, Niño de la Palma, and her great-uncle, Luis Miguel Dominguín. Her first husband was Francisco Rivera 'Paquirri', whom she met at a bullfight. They married on 16 February 1973 when she was barely 17 years old and he was a 25-year-old bullfighter. What the public did not see was the legal battle that entangled Carmina with Isabel Pantoja over Paquirri's inheritance. Three years after his death, the assets remained undivided.
