Abde set for Premier League move as Betis prepares club-record sale

After months away from the pitch, Abde returns to Betis with a clear mission: to become the biggest sale in the Andalusian club's history. The Moroccan winger has recovered from injury and is ready to test the summer market, where heavyweight suitors are prepared to spend millions. The Premier League is tempting the player in a way it hasn't before, and the Verdiblanco club is rubbing its hands together at the prospect of sealing a historic deal.

Betis banking on €60m release clause

As sport.es reports, Betis will not budge: they will only accept Abde's departure if his full €60 million release clause is paid in full. There is no room for negotiation on price or deferred payment structures. The Seville club has made its position crystal clear and expects the player to be equally decisive in the market.

This move represents a change of mentality from previous years, when Abde flatly rejected any exit proposals, even substantial offers from the Bundesliga, Saudi Arabia or the Premier League itself. The injury that ruled him out of the World Cup appears to have opened the Moroccan's eyes to new opportunities for the next step in his career.

Aston Villa emerges as frontrunner with financial muscle

Among the teams tracking the winger, Unai Emery's Aston Villa stands out as the candidate with the greatest financial firepower. The Birmingham side is on the verge of completing a colossal deal: the sale of midfielder Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for approximately €130 million, a staggering sum that will allow them to radically reshape their squad.

With that financial cushion, Emery's men have room to invest in two or three top-level reinforcements, and Abde is among their priorities. Newcastle are also in the race, though with less media prominence. Either could trigger Seville's biggest-ever sale.

Barcelona pockets €12 million slice

Don't forget Barcelona continue to profit from this deal. The Blaugrana retain 20% of Abde's rights, which would earn them €12 million if the sale goes through at €60 million. Money that comes in handy for the Catalans, who need to increase their wage limit and still have key signings pending to complete their seasonal project.

The chain of transactions is curious: Barcelona sold Abde to Betis less than a year ago for just €7 million for 50% of his rights. They then ceded a further 30% specifically to close the sale of Vitor Roque to Palmeiras. This move, forced by necessity, could retrospectively become one of the smartest pieces of business for both clubs.

A player ready to make the leap

Abde has improved exponentially at Seville. His attacking numbers are solid and his assists have grown noticeably, making him one of the most sought-after wingers in the Spanish market. But perhaps most striking is that the footballer has made considerable progress in his command of English, as he recently revealed publicly in social media conversations. That detail is far from trivial: it suggests the player is genuinely preparing himself for the Premier League.

The days of rejecting foreign leagues for comfort are over. This time, everything points to Abde being convinced that now is the moment to try his luck in England and grow as a footballer.

When will the puzzle be solved?

No deadline has yet emerged for the operation to be completed, but moves are accelerating. The summer market has barely got underway, so attention must be paid to any announcement from Seville, Birmingham or Newcastle. What is clear is that when Abde returns to Betis' fold after his recovery, the club will be ready to drop the bombshell: sell the Moroccan winger to the highest bidder and transform those €60 million into a competitive squad for next season. Will Emery manage to take him to Aston Villa, or will Newcastle surprise everyone?
